Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 8, 2026

ByteMelt is operated by Asim Khan, based in Geneva, Switzerland. We take your privacy seriously and keep data collection to an absolute minimum. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What We Collect

Newsletter subscribers: If you sign up for The Meltdown (our weekly digest), we collect your email address. Nothing else. No name, no phone number, no demographic data.

Everyone else: If you just read the site without subscribing, we collect no personal data at all.

How We Use Your Email

Your email address is used exclusively to send you The Meltdown newsletter. We will never sell, rent, or share your email with third parties. We will never send you marketing emails for other products or services. If that ever changes, we will ask for your explicit consent first.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool that is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across sites. All data is aggregated. We can see that someone visited a page, but we cannot identify who.

We chose Plausible specifically because it lets us understand what content resonates without compromising your privacy.

Cookies

ByteMelt does not set any cookies. No tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no session cookies. Zero.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to run the site:

  • Vercel — hosts the website. May process your IP address to serve pages. See Vercel's privacy policy.
  • Resend — sends newsletter emails. Stores your email address for delivery purposes. See Resend's privacy policy.
  • YouTube — video embeds are loaded from youtube-nocookie.com to minimize tracking. YouTube may still set cookies when you play a video. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Plausible Analytics — privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics. See Plausible's data policy.

Data Storage and Location

ByteMelt is hosted on Vercel's global edge network. Newsletter subscriber data is stored by Resend. Both services use servers primarily in the United States and European Union.

Your Rights

Under Swiss data protection law (nDSG) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of any data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your data entirely
  • Unsubscribe — every newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link
  • Portability — request your data in a standard format

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

ByteMelt is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their email address, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top and, if you are a subscriber, notify you via email. We will not retroactively weaken your privacy protections without your consent.
